Well, it is a great band. Here's a bit of story.

“Once upon a night, in Börlange, a young boy called Björn was tired of a band that never grew up the way he wanted. He was tired of the irresponsibility of some of its members. Thinking about having great shows someday, he went to dream about it in a little bar. He sat there, and another boy near him, apparently with his same dreams started to talk to him. He discovered that this boy, named Gustaf, had the same likes and dislikes, the same musical dreams, and he realized that Gustaf had really wanted to reach for glory with a music band… his entire life. Both of them created a band with Gustaf's friends, and some members of Björn’s old band (known as “Buttler”). They worked a lot, and created a new musical group…MANDO DIAO.
You are surely wondering “What is MANDO DIAO?”. Well, MD is a rock band born in Sweden, in Börlange. It has an exceptional power, great music, and its members are: Gustaf Norén, Björn Dixgard, Sam Giers, Mats Björke and Carl-Johan Fogelklou. They play indie rock, mixed with a little bit of garage and a “Beatl-ish” sound (well, the five of them love The Beatles, it's their strongest bond).
The five musicians created five marvellous works of art. “Bring ‘em in” was their first album, in which they wanted to show their most essential component: garage music.
Later came “Hurricane Bar”, and in this work they included a variety of melodies, some of them with a “country” sound, without leaving the garage style aside.
The third piece of art was called “Ode To Ochrasy”, and in this one, they did not only created a new album, with more instruments (such as trumpets), but they also created a new word: “Ochrasy”. It is a word used to refer to the state of a person who is out of himself/herself. Gustaf explained that Ochrasy is always inside us, for example, when we are very happy, with no preoccupations, and when we daydream.
In the fourth album, “Never Seen The Light Of Day”, the band made 360 degrees turn. They included more clean melodies, symphonies with violins, and more country songs without leaving neither the indie music nor the essence of the band.
Their last cd, at the moment, is “Give Me Fire”. This is, beyond any doubt, an excellent work. It is totally different, with the power of rock’n’roll and the happiness of disco music. “Give Me Fire” is the CD that make all fans happy, and with it the band reached a new chapter in its career, followed by a new and stronger legion of fans.
Now MANDO DIAO is a band with a Grammy in its hands and thousands of fans in the entire world. All of us love mostly two things about it: their music and lyrics, and an special characteristic: the hability of changing music styles without leaving the essence of the band behind. You can easily recognize a song by Mando Diao, but still they have the biggest style variation: country, blues, disco; all of them respecting the INDIE touch.
Fans were so grateful for MD's existence that they decided to help them, and Mando Diao's webpage created the Street Teams. A Street Team is a “fan's club”. Each country can decide to join Mando's community and help the band by doing missions that the webpage updates every day (the missions can be suggested by fans too) and in that way create a Street Team. There are Street Teams in countries located in Latin America, Europe, Asia, among others.
A Street Team's goal is to fulfill the missions and share with other countries the passion for the band. In Latin America, we have created the first Street Team in Argentina. It is called “Street Team Buenos Aires” and at the moment, we have sixty three members registered in the ST's webpage, besides other four hundred members, plus people who join everyday. The purpose of creating this ST was one: Becoming true our dream of seing Mando Diao playing live in our country. Now, we have more: making friends who listen to the band in our country, having fun while performing the missions that the webpage updates (like voting, going to radio stations… and winning points in the Street Team by doing that) and working together to make our dream come true.
Lately, we have been quite succesful: we have managed to get an Argentinean edition of “Give Me Fire” in local stores (a Mando Diao CD had never been edited in our country before our Street Team was created), some important radios are helping us by playing MD songs, and also, some articles in newspapers and magazines have been written about the band, and because of this, more and more people are now listening to MD.
We have never seen them live in Argentina. But we still have hope. It is the band the one that generates this feeling. It is very clear to us: The purpose we pursue is helping the band that has changed our lives. That is MANDO DIAO: PASSION FOR MUSIC. “
Hope you like it, even if you've never heard of it before.
Cheers everyone!!
