Established in the heart of Amsterdam, The Crowns were built on foundations of Dutch liberty & freedom. A shared passion for truly handcrafted music and a free environment strongly conductive to creativity led Valentine (vocals), Thomas (guitar) and Alex (keys) to build the first royal rock prototype.
Originally just intended for friends, the sound of The Crowns was nevertheless quickly picked up by music enthusiasts. Inspired by this positive reception The Crowns recorded an album independently. Previews were posted on The Crowns Youtube, where home made videos of The Crowns (main ingredients: an old camera & even older Dutch bike) have gathered over a million views.
Spring 2011 The Crowns were reinforced by Daan (bass), Jose (drums) and Ram (guitar). With this newly complete formation the first single ‘Weirdest Summer’ was released August 2011 and received airplay on biggest Dutch rock radio station 3FM. After the release of Weirdest Summer The Crowns were selected by 3FM as new Serious Talent and performed at multiple radio shows, including Giel’s famed morning show & MetMichiel (watch The Crowns at MetMichiel).
Following the success of Weirdest Summer, their next single ‘The Love Machine’ was debuted on dutch prime time TV show De Wereld Draait Door (The Crowns @ DWDD). The video of The Love Machine has gathered 160,000 views on Youtube since it’s release and can be seen on MTV Brand New (watch The Crowns – The Love Machine).
